The morning routine here is pretty set in stone. We get up by about 7:30AM. The kids get dressed. Then we head downstairs and they have something for breakfast. After breakfast they brush their teeth and comb their hair -- well Lorelei does anyway. After that they put their shoes on. And because we are usually running a bit late -- jackets and hats soon follow. When it's nice we'll walk in the morning. With cooler weather upon us we've been driving the short distance to school. By 8:15AM they are arriving at school ready for a new day of learning.
This morning, the kids changed up the routine a little by requesting to do this:
Yep, there they go. Off to school all by themselves this morning. That's actually the other end of our street right before they have to turn right and cross the road.
Every day, in very small ways, they remind me that I'm very slowly losing my day job. Man is it tough to watch them grow up sometimes.
