This is the little "garden" that Lorelei and I have going. I thought since it was Earth Day I'd post some pictures.
Our yard doesn't lend itself to having a garden. Too many bunnies and no real good way to keep bunnies out. But, Lorelei has been very interested in plants and taking care of plants, so I figured we could probably handle having a few small house plants.
The small brown pots are clovers. I picked them up in the $1 section at Target. If you can believe it, we only planted them last week and they've sprouted up very, very quickly. In fact, I think I'll probably have to transplant them much sooner than I thought. It said to plant just 10 of the itty-bitty seeds, but not wanting Lorelei to be disappointed if there were a lot of duds, we planted more than 10. As you can see...we didn't get a lot of duds.
The big pink pot is our Gerbera daisy that we picked up at Walmart. We were going to buy some seeds to plant, but it was a total bonus to find the daisy for just $7. Since it's already blooming and very pretty we can just continue to take care of it by watering it. And both kids love getting the opportunity to do that.
If I had it my way, we'd be buying an Aero Garden. I think the kids would really enjoy it if we could grow our own small tomatoes, or beans or something edible. At some point down the road, I'll probably buy one. Then we can have a garden all year long to take care of and enjoy right in the house.
