My poor, poor Luli! When I got home last night Lorelei told me she wasn't feeling well and that her throat hurt. I'm not one to take throat issues lightly as I had a lot of them myself when I was a kid.
So, I had her climb up under the dining room light and took a peek down her throat. Sure enough, nice swollen tonsils. Checked her forehead and she was slightly above average. Dosed her with motrin and sent her off to bed.
She woke up around 5AM burning up. So, I again dosed her with motrin and got her snuggled back into bed. She was up again around 8AM and laid in Caleb's bed watching television after he went to school. A dose of tylenol around 11.
Got her into the doctor about noon today. It's not strep. Which is great. But, she's on an antibiotic for tonsilitis. That's good because she likes that particular medication, but she doesn't want the motrin or the tylenol for the fever that's plaguing her. We finally got her to take some motrin a little while ago, but she's miserable. Hasn't gotten off the couch since about 3:30 this afternoon.
I'm hoping she'll be able to sleep tonight and that the fever will break. But regardless, she'll be home again tomorrow. When I have to spoon feed my five year old some fruit just to get something in, that's a sign that they won't have the energy or stamina for school the next day.
