Not long after I blogged earlier today, Lorelei asked if she could go outside with the sidewalk chalk. I was definitely okay with her getting out into the fresh air and so away she went. I cracked open the patio door and a window to get some fresh air into the house too.
With the door open, she and Caleb could shout at each other and, of course, seeing Lorelei outside having fun prompted him to throw his pants and socks back on so he could also go outside.
Less than 5 minutes later, they both came inside and pronounced an interest in heading over to the park. And because that's what I had wanted earlier, I was more than okay with that plan. Off they went.
About an hour later they came home. Smelly from running and playing with all the other kids who had gathered at the park to enjoy the nice mid-50's weather and some sunshine.
As a treat, we went and picked up some McDonald's. Well, and also because I've had a light headache since earlier this afternoon and just had no motivation left for coming up with a meal they'd both eat. We brought it home with us and afterwards Caleb got right to work on his spelling homework.
After homework, they hopped in the bath to play some more together. And yeah, I'm still really not okay with the dual bath thing, but they still love doing it, so once in awhile I consent. They played happily together while getting nice and clean for a good 30 minutes. Got out, got some pj's on and decided to watch an episode of Ben10 together.
Caleb's going to read his assigned story to Lorelei for bedtime again tonight. It's adorable and they both seem to enjoy that part of the night. I just love watching them have good times together. I hope those are the things they remember about childhood and not just all the fighting they did.
And then it will be bedtime. We'll start all over again tomorrow.
