--We have a conference scheduled with Caleb's teacher for February 26th. He got a D in math and a C in something else and that's just not acceptable in this house. I don't know WHY on earth his teacher didn't let us know his grade was this bad before report cards, but I plan to find out because we requested a conference earlier in the year and DID NOT get any response from her. I'm ticked. Hopefully the math thing is something we can get figured out. I know a lot of it has to do with Caleb's tendencies to be very social at school and to let other kids lead him into doing the wrong thing. Which sucks, but I can't control his behavior at school because obviously I'm not there. I haven't been real enthused about this teacher anyway. We never had these particular problems in 1st grade and his 2nd grade teacher in Milwaukee sent praises home about him ALL the time. He hasn't been on the ADHD medication since early August, so unless it's manifesting itself again and only at school -- but I doubt it. On the other hand he's still having a lot of trouble managing his emotions at home. Crying over silly things like his socks being lumpy, or his jacket being too big to fit under his seat belt. On top of that he has horrible anger management -- though that seems to not happen at school thankfully. At this point, I don't know that any of it's concrete enough to have him assessed for anything in particular. But, I don't know because I'm not a doctor.
--Caleb walked home from school on his own today -- rain and all. I actually went to pick him up and had a nice spot near the school on the street. When he saw me he got really upset. So, I took his backpack and Lorelei and I drove home and he walked. He was pretty proud of himself and says he wants to continue walking by himself. This is perfectly fine with me because it will make my afternoons easier and I won't have deal with the traffic or with getting Lorelei out the door to walk over there anymore.
--Last night I got a sneak peak at a small bit of the routine that Lorelei will be doing on Saturday night with the local high school pom team. It's too cute. I'm pretty sure she has almost no clue what she's doing {{along with all the other kids her age}}, but it's still adorable. She's right in the front so I'm hoping I'll get some good video with my camera on Saturday. I love seeing her participate in things like this because she enjoys them so much.
