This afternoon we needed to get out of the house for awhile. We didn't really need to go anywhere, but you know, I'll make something up for the sake of getting out on occasion. Decided I'd take the kids to Barnes & Noble and let them each pick out a new book. Figured I'd get another while I was there too. Nothing wrong with fostering their love of books right? And encouraging Caleb to get into more age appropriate chapter books right?
So, I told them they could each pick one book out. ANY stinkin' book in the kid section that interested them. One book each would equal three.
Instead?
They each ended up with TWO new books. And I ended up getting Lorelei the same school workbook that I have for Caleb that's appropriate for K-1 transition. Mommy got no new books. And it cost me almost $35.
BUT -- I have two happy kids. Lorelei found two My Little Pony books that she was really interested in and Caleb did in fact pick out a chapter book that he thought he might like to read. Obviously, any reading he'll do is great. But he does need to start reading longer stories.
And now? I need to head off and get our school started. It's been quite awhile since we've done school work and I'd like to get back on track.

Lorelei jumping on the trampoline and Lorelei reading Dr. Seuss at the doctors this morning. Isn't she cute?

A Few Seconds of Reading
This is Caleb doing his assigned reading. I don't recall the name of the story, but it is about penguins having their chicks.
