Christmas FART

A new Christmas song? Certainly not one that would be popular with most grown ups, but the kids think it's a hoot! They sang just one little part for me so that I could get it on video.

The lyrics:

"On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me... A penquin that made a loud squeak. FART!"

Hi! Hello!

The girls doing their welcome cheer for the home crowd. Aren't they adorable?

The Merry Go Round

We went with some friends to the drive-in and got to see the new Disney flick UP.

The kids had a blast playing on the merry go round before the show and during the show, they got to hang out in the trunk of my car with pillows, blankets and loads of snacks.

Roller Skating

I took the kids to our first of many free skate sessions for the summer. They had a lot of fun, but as you can imagine I didn't have a whole lot of time to take video or pictures. Here's just a few seconds of them on skates. Caleb did really well once he got his footing (this is the third time he's gone skating) and Lorelei did pretty well too even though she'd never gone before. We only managed to stay for an hour because Lorelei got tired out and had fallen down plenty, but overall we had a super awesome time. We agreed that we'd like to not only go on free skate afternoons, but we'd also like to go for Family Nights on Thursday.

Total awesomeness!

Lorelei Shorts

Lorelei jumping on the trampoline and Lorelei reading Dr. Seuss at the doctors this morning. Isn't she cute?

Taekwondo!

The kids are taking part in an 8-week introduction to taekwondo/martial arts. It was all my idea and Caleb needed a bit of convincing to actually make it happen. But, it did happen and this morning was registration and first class. Both kids really did a great job! They listened, followed instruction and tried their personal best -- you can't ask for more than that! Here's just one of many videos I took of them working on some new skills. I'm hoping they'll both enjoy it enough to continue after the 8 weeks are up because I definitely see some big positives coming from an activity such as taekwondo for them both.

Dinosaur Excavation

Of course, Flickr cuts off about 30 seconds of this video, but you get sound. It's a trade off.

If you have a little dinosaur excavator at home, you can get a kit like ours here. Plus a ton of other great kid kits, books and educational type stuff.

Definitely Not Camera Shy

I got my new webcam today.

I immediately tried out a Skype video call. {Oh, and if you have Skype - we should so totally chat or something!} Within 10 minutes of the start of the call, I had both kids beating me up to get in front of the camera so they could talk, make goofy faces, and just in general be adorable.

I don't think I could have paid them to go away. They wouldn't have it. In fact, for a little while I went and hid in the garage just so I could get a little peace and quiet.

I have a feeling I'll be asked if they can make videos quite frequently now. And hey, I could even let them vlog. Wouldn't that be cute?

{Oh, and if you like my webcam, I got it on Amazon. It was cheaper than both Walmart and Best Buy. And with my trial Amazon Prime Membership I also got overnight shipping for $3.99 -- which still put my cost about $6 below what I would have paid for just the webcam itself at either of the other two stores.}

A Few Seconds of Reading

This is Caleb doing his assigned reading. I don't recall the name of the story, but it is about penguins having their chicks.

And now we have sound thanks to Flickr!

We Love Peanuts!

I remember watching Peanuts cartoons for every holiday. My grandpa still has every single Peanuts movie on VHS video and he'll pull them out for his great-grandchildren now too. Still love to watch them and I especially love to watch them with my kids. While Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, PigPen and the crew aren't daring crime fighters, superheros or just plain out strange (as seems customary with newer cartoons) no one can hold a candle to those classic cartoons!

Caleb's Rock Climbing Video

Again, my apologies if I'm the only voice you hear! Caleb did an awesome job on his climb and I was proud of him because he's conquering his "fear of heights" everytime he gets up on the wall!

Lorelei's Rock Climbing Video

I apologize if the only person you hear on the only video is me. Lorelei did such a fabulous job climbing and made it almost all the way to the top in this video!
