I Already Said Happy Valentine's Day...

This is the card that Lorelei made for mommy and daddy for Valentine's Day at school. Isn't it sweet?

And this is a picture of what should not still be in our dining room on Valentine's Day!

I can't even believe it myself that our Christmas tree is still up! Am I slacking off in the holiday department or what? I mean I adore Christmas and all, but I think I've pushed it this year. Maybe I should just leave it up all year so I don't have to do it all again next year? No. I shouldn't. You're absolutely right. Hopefully, it will come down tomorrow, but no guarantees. Our neighbors must literally think we are insane. And in fact, we only just recently turned off the Christmas lights.

Lorelei's performance is tonight and I am very excited. Hopefully I'll have some super cute video to share tomorrow. She's very excited as well! Heck, if I was in Kindergarten and I got to dance with the high school pom/dance team -- I'd probably be pretty excited too!

Hope you are spending the day with someone who makes your heart flutter and feel happy. I'll be with the two loves of my life -- Caleb and Lorelei -- all day long.

Should Have -- But Didn't

Okay, okay. Valentine's Day is on Saturday. Tomorrow is Friday. Of course, I should have known and prepared for the kids to bring Valentine's to school, but I didn't. You know why? Because I didn't get any information from either teacher regarding the holiday. Nothing about appropriate snacks, or whether the kids would actually be exchanging Valentine's. Until tonight...

We got Caleb's homework out of his backpack and I notice a list. Yes, just a list with the name of every kid in his class on it. Obviously meant for Valentine's. Tonight. At a little after 7PM.

So, I was elected Valentine Hunter and George was elected Homework Helper.

First, I tried CVS. Five minutes from home. Easy-peasy-pie. They had two lousy boxes of Valentine's. Not enough for both kids and certainly not ones that either would want to use.

I go back out to the car and call George and let him know I'm headed off to Meijer. Because, well, Meijer is a good bet.

Drive the 15 minutes to Meijer. Take 2 minutes to select Transformers and Barbie Valentine's. Wait 20 minutes in check out line to pay for 2 stupid boxes of Valentine's.

Drive 15 minutes home.

Homework isn't anywhere near complete.

I get Lorelei started on writing her name on the Valentine's while George gets Caleb through spelling. Then they do math. Then Caleb writes his Valentine's while I read his story to him so he can listen to it at least one more time before his test tomorrow.

Next year -- I'm buying Valentine's in January.
